Prime Minister Gaston Browne & Prime Minister Andrew Holness
Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness has congratulated Prime Minister Gaston Browne following the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party’s overwhelming victory in the country’s general election.
In a message issued after the election results were confirmed, Holness commended Browne on securing a fourth consecutive term in office and on becoming the longest-serving Prime Minister in Antigua and Barbuda’s history.
“I look forward to the continued strengthening of the partnership between our countries as we advance our shared regional priorities.” Holness said.
Browne led the ruling Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) to a dominant showing at the polls, winning 15 parliamentary seats in a landslide victory.
The opposition United Progressive Party (UPP) retained just one seat, held by party leader Jamale Pringle. The Barbuda People’s Movement also maintained its lone seat in Barbuda, represented by Trevor Walker.
The election result further strengthens Browne’s political influence both at home and across the region, with additional congratulatory messages from Caribbean leaders expected in the coming days.
The decisive outcome gives the ABLP a renewed mandate as the administration prepares to begin another term in office.
