The case against Karim Edwards, accused of causing the death of an American University of Antigua (AUA) student by dangerous driving, is nearing its second year in court.
The incident, which occurred on October 23, 2022, involved Edwards allegedly striking two AUA students crossing Friars Hill Road.
A ruling on a no case submission, initially expected on September 11, has been briefly postponed to September 19.
This delay allows the Magistrate and defence counsel time to review the prosecution’s response to the defence’s submission.
The collision at the heart of the case resulted in tragedy. Kenneth Mathew, 21, suffered severe brain trauma and passed away just over a week after the incident.

His companion, Priyanjana Das, then 19, survived but sustained life-altering injuries, including the loss of her right arm, fractures to her left arm, and pelvic injuries.
Edwards, an accountant in his late 40s, initially faced a charge of dangerous driving. However, following Mathew’s death, the charge was elevated to ‘causing death by dangerous driving’.
Not one thing coming out of that case. Very sad for the family.
Data, and you know why, right? I hope that the parents of the two former AUA Medical School file a civil suit against this. driver despite his alleged intimate connections with a certain member of the local judiciary. Stay tuned.
Two years for the AUA student but the young lady was charged what 5000? In like what two months?? For the death of a police officer, who quote in quote eye witness said was speeding on his bike. Haha, I almost forgot we are in Antigua where these no justice unless you’re a affiliated member of the law right.
I would file a case against the whole country!! This is wrong! Not because his wife or whatever is a lawyer or whatever they said she is. IT IS WRONG!!
